Intro[]

You can mine the following items:

  • Stone
  • Iron ore
  • Silver ore
  • Gold ore

Iron ore is used to craft iron ingots. These ingots are the ingredient to craft steel ingots . Silver and gold ores can be smelted into respectively silver and gold ingots.

Go into the mine with the Mining Pickaxe and hit the stone rocks. The ores are tricky to find and will be randomly spawned. Watch out for mine collapses. This happens frequently and is a reason to avoid this hard work.

Upon successfully collecting ores you'll need to smelt these. Climb the stairs outside to reach the top of the furnace. Face the mine carts and click action "f" key once to open a menu. This is your cart. Each type of ore has an amount to place before it can be smelted. The amount is show for each. From left to right - Iron ore (2), Silver ore (4), Gold ore (6), Iron bars (1). Iron bars produce steel. Enter the right amount of ores for each type and close out by clicking "Ready." Now push the contents of the minecart into the furnace by reinteracting with the minecart with holding the action "f" key. Now you'll see the minecart animated to throw everything into the furnace. In order to complete this progress, you'll need to keep your camera on the original position of the minecart. Use ~-key to rotate your camera. This applies to all machinery.

A minigame is the last barrier before you can successfully smelt ores into ingots A fast moving arrows goes forth and back. Click 'Finish' if the button reaches the section between the two markers to succeed into smelting. Note: it is not until the mouse is depressed that the tracker finally stops. The player can press and hold 'Finish' and release when it is time.

Increase your crafting ability (attribute agility) in order to make smelting easier. Increase two handed skill and power strike to make mining the ores easier.

Crafting ability can also be enhanced by the use of two separate obtainable books/scrolls that each add a +1 modifier to crafting. These can be either purchased from traveling book merchants or crafted at your own Church after opening one.

Smelting was historically a very tough and difficult process. The result could easily be broken when the furnace didn't have the right temperature. The Industrial Era has brought us techniques and furnaces which can reach immense temperatures. But for now you'll have to work with medieval techniques!
